RENTAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
Please read these terms carefully. You accept them when you complete a booking. In short: Oslo Campervan is an intermediary only, and the renter carries full responsibility for the vehicle during the rental period.
1. Who you are contracting with
Oslo Campervan is a booking intermediary (a broker). We connect renters with independent vehicle owners; we do not ourselves own or operate the vehicles offered through this website.
The rental agreement is entered into directly between the owner of the vehicle and the renter. Oslo Campervan is not a party to that agreement and carries no liability under it.
2. The rental contract and check-in
A separate rental contract between the vehicle owner and the renter is signed as part of the check-in process, when the renter collects the vehicle.
At check-in, the renter and the owner complete a handover together and record the condition of the vehicle with photos and video. The same is done on return.
3. Minimum age and drivers
The renter and every driver must be at least 21 years old — 25 for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes — and must have held a valid category B (or equivalent national/international) driving licence for at least 2 years, or 4 years for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.
Only drivers registered at check-in may drive the camper, and the renter is responsible for the conduct of any driver they allow to use it. A valid ID or passport and driving licence must be shown when the camper is collected.
4. The renter's responsibility
The renter has full responsibility for the vehicle throughout the entire rental period, from collection until it is returned to the owner.
This includes responsibility for the vehicle, its equipment and its use, and for any tolls, parking charges, fines or other costs incurred during the rental period.
5. Permitted use and care
All campers are non-smoking. Pets are allowed only by prior agreement with the owner. Any extra cleaning or odour removal made necessary by a breach of this — including rental income lost while the camper is unavailable — is charged to the renter.
The camper may not be used for motorsport or vehicle testing, for transporting dangerous or illegal goods, for subletting or commercial passenger transport, or for off-road driving.
The renter must treat the camper carefully, keep it locked, follow the operating instructions, and monitor the oil, coolant and tyre pressure during the rental.
6. Fuel and cleaning
The camper is supplied with a full fuel tank and must be returned with a full tank; otherwise refuelling is charged. Fuel, AdBlue and similar running costs during the rental are the renter's.
The camper is supplied clean and must be returned reasonably clean. Any extra cleaning required is charged to the renter.
7. Rental period and late return
The rental period runs from the moment the camper is collected until it is returned to the owner, and is charged per started 24-hour period.
If the camper is returned later than agreed, each started hour is charged, up to a full day's rate for each delayed day, together with any cost the owner incurs toward a following renter as a result of the delay.
8. Security deposit, damage and valuation
A refundable security deposit is paid to the vehicle owner at check-in. It is not charged when you book.
The security deposit may be used to cover damage caused to the vehicle during the rental period, as well as any outstanding tolls, parking charges or fines.
Where damage has occurred, an independent valuation report (takstrapport) is obtained to establish the cost. This can take time — potentially more than 30 days — as the vehicle may need to be taken out of service and brought to a workshop for assessment.
The security deposit is held until the valuation report is available and the matter is settled. Any part of the deposit not needed is then returned to the renter.
Insurance is included in the rental price. In the event of damage, the renter pays the insurance excess, and never more than the amount of the security deposit.
9. Insurance and liability
Insurance is included in the rental price. In the event of damage the renter pays the insurance excess, and never more than the amount of the security deposit.
This excess protection does not apply where damage is caused intentionally or through gross negligence; by a driver who is not registered or not qualified; while under the influence of alcohol or medication; through any forbidden use; by ignoring the vehicle's height, width or weight limits, or its dashboard warning lights; or by filling the wrong fuel.
The renter remains liable for all tolls, parking charges, fines and penalties incurred during the rental period.
10. Accidents and breakdowns
After any accident, theft, fire or wildlife collision, the renter must notify the police and the owner immediately, and provide a written report — even for minor damage. If the renter fails to do so and the insurer therefore declines to pay, the renter may be liable for the full cost of the repair.
Repairs needed to keep the camper safe and roadworthy may be carried out without prior approval up to NOK 2,500; larger repairs require the owner's consent. Approved repairs are reimbursed against receipts and the replaced parts.
11. Payment
A 30% prepayment secures the booking. The remaining 70% is paid by bank transfer directly to the vehicle owner ahead of departure, using the booking number as the payment reference.
Every price is shown up front before you book — there are no hidden costs.
12. Cancellation and availability
You may cancel your booking free of charge up to 90 days before pickup, and your 30% prepayment is refunded in full. For cancellations within 90 days of pickup, the 30% prepayment is non-refundable.
Oslo Campervan reserves the right to cancel a booking. Where a booking is cancelled, Oslo Campervan shall not be financially liable for any loss or cost arising from the cancellation.
A booking request is not valid until it has been approved and a vehicle has been assigned.
13. Foreign travel
Travel within Europe is permitted. Travel to countries outside Europe, or to war or crisis areas, requires the owner's prior consent.
14. Website information and errors
Information on this website — including prices, images, availability and vehicle details — is provided in good faith but may contain errors or become out of date. Images are examples of a class of vehicle and not necessarily the exact vehicle assigned.
We reserve the right to correct errors, and we accept no liability, and shall not be subject to any compensation claim, arising from mistakes or inaccuracies on this website.
15. Personal data and governing law
Personal data provided when booking is processed only to administer the rental, in line with applicable data-protection law (GDPR).
The rental is governed by Norwegian law. Any dispute arising from the rental is subject to the ordinary Norwegian courts.
16. Acceptance
By completing a booking you confirm that you have read, understood and accept these terms and conditions.
